Sorry Not in Service - FGW unit 150244 speeds down towards Old Dilton with 5Z75 working up from Fratton fuelling point and bound for Westbury - 12/12/13
Network Rail's unique 950001 approaches journey's end at Westbury with a rail measurement train originating in Newport and taking in many places in the Bristol area including Portbury dock. A chance to compare and contrast with 150130 passing in the other direction with 2D17 14.38 FGW service from Westbury for Bristol Parkway. Although essentially built using a class 150 bodyshell, 950001 was purpose built as a test vehicle rather than being converted from a former 150 passenger unit. Who said we couldn't top last week's excitement of 60040 on 6A11 at this location! - 12/12/13
Leaving Old Dilton or approaching Upton Scudamore, it's your choice but none-the-less the scene of very many interesting and exotic workings imaged by messrs Few, Curtis, Brookes and others but sadly just a SWT 159 for yours truly. 159009 (with blonde lady driver - can't tell if she's natural or bottle) on 12.51 BTM to London Waterloo - 13/11/13
An unidentified* 221 Super Voyager gets away from Bath Spa with 1S35 06.09 Bath Spa to Glasgow central. Much as I like trains, an 8 hour trip to Glasgow doesn't sound like much of a Super Voyage to me - 06/09/13
*Of course it's unidentified, it was bloody early, I was half asleep and (naturally) I was looking into the sun

Not too sure who is the senior partner in this combination, FGW unit 153318 leads SWT 158881 through Oldfield Park Bath 08.53 Weymouth to Bristol - 10/06/13
No probs incorporating the White Horse into this one, 150129 heads for Trowbridge en route, one presumes, for Great Malvern - 20/04/13
165112
Quite possibly the first time this type of unit has ever traversed these rails. 166211 and 165130 run through Clink Road Junction Frome with a test run from Reading TMD. Running as 3Z11 the units went as far as Caste Cary and returned. Dumb luck really as I knew an engineers working was coming through (59002) and went out for that, this was a bonus - more luck as it was published in Railway Magazine, hey, a guy can always use another £20 right? - 17/02/13
153370 gets underway from Frome station with the Saturday 10.41 Gloucester to Weymouth. Note the new section of rail (courtesy of Tata steel) waiting to be laid overnight (Ooerr missus!) replacing the bullhead rail which has been in situ for many years. Frome station was opened in 1850 and is one of only a few train shed (covered roof) stations still in operation sadly looking a bit worse for wear despite being a Grade II listed building - 16/02/13
150232 speeds past Bunns Lane near Frome the Fridays only 15.20 Westbury to Exeter St Davids service - 15/02/13
Like this one, isn't it amazing how when conditions are total rubbish like this, it is still possible to pull something out of the bag* 150249 rises out of the gloom (Clan Line must be approaching!) at Bruton working 13.10 Weymouth to Gloucester - 13/02/12
*And other times in full sun I often manage to cock it up.

158956 leads the 13.23 Portsmouth to Cardiff past one of many fields flooded by the river Avon - 23/11/12
Still wearing its attractive London Midland green livery, 153333 leads 150243 & 150248 with 2O74 09.20 Bristol to Weymouth toward Berkley Frome. I was (literally) wrong side of the tracks waiting for Tangers on the Weymouth Seaside Express. I only have this level of info as I spotted an image of this working at Bradford OA on Mark Few's excellent website - he was waiting for Tangers too (naturally he was the correct side of the track) - 26/08/12
159003 leaves Dilton Marsh behind pulling up through Old Dilton with a Salisbury service - 25/11/10
158954 at Norton Bavant passes me in a field of something green which I probably wouldn't eat (not without tomato sauce at least). In the background is Battlesbury hill - 24/11/10
