I will readily and happily admit that I am not as well connected and informed as the majority of rail enthusiasts, I don't know my IIA-s from my JNA-s (they're all just wagons to me) and lord knows where you guys get the headcode details from or how to interpret them. The recent advent of realtimetrains (and my subsequent purchase of a smart phone) has taken (some of) the guess-work out of finding workings but much of the info accompanying my images is taken from viewing other 'in-the-know' guy's web sites who have imaged the same working - so many thanks to Tom Curtis (especially), Mark Few, Martin Loader, Darren Brooks, Glen Batten, Mark Jamieson and others whose work I admire in terms of their level of knowledge as well as the quality of their images - I hope you might find just a few images here that are in roughly the same ballpark as these guys. On a similar topic, when I first started roving about the local rail scene I was (extremely) naive enough to think that several locations I found myself at were my exclusive discovery! - suffice to say that I soon realised that the aforementioned and many others had long since 'been there and imaged that' but hope springs eternal, I'll bet it's a lot easier with Google Earth now guys eh?
While I'm being painfully honest, it's worth mentioning too that it took a while to realise that there is a right and a wrong side of the line when it comes to sunshine (and generally not to bother when there is none), I do have a couple of images I'm really pleased with even though I ended up on 'the dark side' - Tangmere at Berkley on the Weymouth for starters - but many, especially earlier images, are passable purely with dumb luck. When I have accumulated a bit more quality I will probably cull a number of images included at present.
All images are jpeg, my camera (Nikon D7000) does take RAW images too but I've no idea how to monkey about with that stuff in Elements 11 - the day I do figure it out I've got a whole stack of saved images waiting to get some attention. I gather it is common practice to deal with an image in RAW and then convert to a jpeg but I've no idea how (or why??).
